St. Paul, MN – Representative Jeff Dotseth (R-Silver Township) is encouraging residents to participate in the public engagement process for the Northeast Omashkooz (Elk) Restoration and Management Plan. Led by the Minnesota DNR and the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, the plan aims to restore elk to northeast Minnesota, including the Fond du Lac Reservation and surrounding areas.
“This project is an important step toward restoring a species that is part of Minnesota’s natural heritage,” said Rep. Dotseth. “I encourage everyone to share their input to ensure the plan reflects the needs of the community.”
Public meetings will be held online on Monday, Feb. 10, and in person on Thursday, Feb. 13 in Cloquet. Feedback can also be submitted through online questionnaire or by email at ne.elk.plan.dnr@state.mn.us until Feb. 28. More details are available at mndnr.gov/elk.
