Legislative UpdateThis week has been a busy week at the Capitol. In continuation of last week’s letter that we sent to the MSHSL, demanding that they keep boys out of girls sports, an important bill has been moving through a committee and towards the House floor. Thank you for taking the time to read my update this week! |
Preserving Girl's SportsHF12 was introduced in the Education Policy Committee on Wednesday afternoon. Authored by Rep. Peggy Scott, this bill aims to preserve fairness in girls' sports by ensuring that only biological females compete in female athletic divisions. It also seeks to maintain privacy in locker rooms and other spaces designated for female athletes. During the hearing, numerous courageous female athletes testified about their experiences and the importance of competing in fair and protected conditions. Hearing support from high school and college athletes, young adults, and parents highlighted the broad and passionate backing for this bill. Following discussion and testimony, HF12 was brought to a vote in the Education Policy Committee, where it passed and was moved to the General Register. I strongly support this bill and will continue to keep you updated as it progresses through the legislative process. ![]() One of the young women that testified in support of HF12 Head StartI had the opportunity to meet with several employees from Head Start, a program that provides vital early childhood education and support for pregnant women and children up to age five. As a strong believer in the sanctity of life, I see this program as an important resource for mothers who may be facing difficult circumstances, ensuring that their children have the care and educational foundation they need to thrive. It was a pleasure to connect with these dedicated professionals and discuss the meaningful work Head Start is doing across Minnesota to support families and strengthen communities. ![]() |
