Rep. Hansen Re-Appointed to Legislative Audit Commission

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Today, Representative Rick Hansen (DFL-South St. Paul) was re-appointed to the Legislative Audit Commission (LAC) for the 2025-26 biennium by Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman.

The LAC is a bipartisan commission with six members from the House and six from the Senate, equally divided between the majority and minority parties. The commission appoints the Legislative Auditor and selects topics for the Program Evaluation Division to review. It also periodically holds hearings to review audit and evaluation reports. The commission chair rotates every two years between the House and the Senate.

“Ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently and transparently has always been a major focus of my work, and I look forward to continuing to serve on the Legislative Audit Commission,” said Rep. Hansen “As Chair of the Legislative Audit Commission these past two years, I worked alongside colleagues from both chambers and parties identifying ways to improve legislative programs and processes. I hope we continue that bipartisan tradition going forward.”

Representative Hansen is a longtime member of the LAC, previously serving as the commission’s chair from 2023-24, 2019-2020, and 2007-2008. More information about the LAC can be found on the Office of the Legislative Auditor’s website.
