ST. PAUL - State Representative Sondra Erickson, R-Princeton, has been selected to serve on the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Commission, a group that will plan activities for Minnesota’s 150th anniversary of statehood on May 11, 2008.
“I am honored to be part of the commission and I look forward to planning a great celebration for our wonderful state’s 150th birthday,” Erickson said. House Speaker Steve Sviggum chose Erickson for the Commission.
“I am grateful for Representative Erickson’s willingness to give her time and talent to the people of Minnesota by serving on the commission,” Sviggum said.
The Sesquicentennial Commission will organize the celebration for Minnesota's 150th anniversary of statehood and create a plan for capital improvements, celebratory activities, and public engagement in every county in the State of Minnesota.
Erickson is one of 17 total members. Governor Tim Pawlenty will appoint nine members from across the state to represent major corporate, nonprofit, and public sectors. Legislative leaders from the House and Senate will select the other members.
