I wanted to wish you a safe and happy 4th of July weekend. I hope you will have time to partake in the festivities; attend a community parade, watch fireworks, or spend time with family celebrating the birth of our great nation.
I just wanted to update you on some announcements from MNDOT and FEMA that impact our area.
Highway 169 Construction
Starting July 8th, there will be construction on Highway 169 between Zimmer and Long Siding that will result in segments of roads being reduced to a single lane. The closures will occur from sunrise to sunset through mid-October.
Please also note that the speed limit is reduced to 55 mph while construction is going on. For more information on construction projects, please visit www.511mn.org.
FEMA Preliminary Damage Assessments
We received notice from the Governor's office yesterday that Mille Lacs County is one of 23 counties that will be considered for disaster aid resulting from the huge storms that we experienced in June.
FEMA Preliminary Damage Assessment teams will be dispatched to Minnesota to survey the damage, and determine whether we are eligible for assistance. Please contact me if you have any questions on this matter.
Wishing you and your family a blessed and safe 4th of July,
