MINUTES

Representative Scott, Chair of the Judiciary Finance and Civil Law Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:15 AM, on ¬¬¬¬¬ March 11th, 2025, in Room G3 of the Capitol Building. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Finke moved the minutes of March 6th, 2025 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 1917 (Anderson, P.H.): Definition of public official in a city or county modified.

Chair Scott moved HF 1917 before the committee.

Chair Scott moved that HF 1917 be re-referred to the committee on Election Finance and Government Operations.

Testifiers:

Matt Ehling, Minnesotans for Open Government, testified in favor of HF 1917.

Tori Kee, Intergovernmental Relations Attorney, League of Minnesota Cities, testified in opposition to HF 1917.

Chair Scott renewed the motion that HF 1917 be re-referred to the committee on Election Finance and Government Operations. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


HF 1083 (Moller): Domestic abuse advocates prohibited from disclosing information.

Chair Scott moved HF 1083 before the committee.

Representative Moller moved that HF 1083 be re-referred to the committee on Public Safety Finance and Policy.

Testifiers:

Representative Rarick, testified in favor of HF 1083.
Rana Alexander, lawyer, testified in favor of HF 1083.

Representative Moller renewed the motion that HF 1083 be re-referred to the committee on Public Safety Finance and Policy. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


The meeting was adjourned at 11:16 AM.
